Running of the Mayors Sunday Night

HOLYOKE, MA – The Blue Sox will be in action tonight, Sunday, July 22 as they prepare to take on the Keene Swamp Bats in a battle for North Division supremacy. Gates open at 4pm with first pitch slated for 5:05pm.

Tonight will also be the second annual Running of the Mayors presented by Business West. Mayors from four local communities will race in a fundraiser for their local Boys & Girls Clubs.

The four participating Mayors include:

  • Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse (sponsored by Hamel’s Creative Catering)
  • West Springfield Mayor Will Reichelt (sponsored by Once Upon a Child)
  • Springfield Mayor Dominic Sarno (sponsored by United Bank)
  • Chicopee Mayor Richard Kos (sponsored by Polish National Credit Union)

The race is scheduled to take place in the top of the fifth inning. The winner of the race will win the proceeds from the Blue Sox 50-50 raffle this evening and it will go to the local Boys and Girls Club as a donation.

LHP Tim Josten (Cal State Fullerton) will take the mound for the Blue Sox tonight. The young lefty has thrown 16IP for the Blue Sox so far this year, striking out 15, walking 4 and has a 5.04 ERA. He will be opposed by Keene’s RHP Colby Dunlop (UConn). Dunlop currently has a 3.76 ERA in 28.2IP for the Swamp Bats with 31 K’s and 11BB
