Valley Blue Sox Head Coach Endy Morales Shines in Debut
HOLYOKE - With revenge on their minds and the new era underway, The Valley Blue Sox came into opening night with a chip on their shoulder looking to defeat the Newport Gulls who ended their season last year. New Head Coach Endy Morales prided himself on defense as his squad retired 15 Newport batters and came out on top with a 1-0 victory.
“The highlight was the pitching. We punched out 15 guys and offensively punched out 13 but we did one job better than they did,” said Morales on his team's overall performance.
It was an emotional night for Coach Morales as he won back-to-back championships with the Blue Sox as a player during the 2017-2018 seasons and now returning to Mackenzie Stadium with a new title leading his team out onto the field.
“I was a little nervous I’m not going to lie. I just saw how Raiola did it so well when I was playing for him. I didn’t want to mess it up and at the end of the day what calmed me down was that we have a good group of guys and I felt confident in their abilities.”
Coach Morales looks to build on their momentum when they travel to Connecticut to face the Mystic Schooners on Wednesday night.
