Anu Wins Final Player of the Week Award

New Market outfielder/designated hitter Oraj Anu has been named the final VBL Player of the Week for 2018.
Anu led the league in both homers (four) and RBIs (10), while batting .524 (11-for-21) in five games.
He homered in his last three games (totaling nine RBIs in those contests), as the Rebels won their last seven times he appeared in the lineup- not including a previously suspended game vs. Purcellville that the Rebels lost upon completion yesterday.
Anu also led the league in slugging (1.143) and OPS (1.726) over the final seven days of the regular season.
Signs USA is sponsoring the Valley Baseball League Player of the Week for the third season in 2018.
Honorable Mention:
Austin Embler, 2B, Harrisonburg Turks – Batted .400 and led his team in on-base percentage (.588), slugging (.800) and RBIs (three).
Christian Garabedian, 1B/3B, Purcellville Cannons – Hit .368 and tied for the league lead with 10 RBIs. Also homered once.
Ryan Hogan, C/OF, Strasburg Express – Hit .462 and slugged .654. Homered once, knocked in four runs and scored four times.
Trey Jacobs, IF, Staunton Braves – Hit .400 with a home run, seven RBIs and four runs scored.
Clayton Jeffries, OF, Woodstock River Bandits – Led the Bandits in batting (.357) and scored twice.
Zion Pettigrew, IF, Winchester Royals – Hit .500 and slugged 1.000. Totaled two homers, seven RBIs, five runs scored and four stolen bases.
Marcus Ragan, OF, Waynesboro Generals – Led the league in batting (.667). Knocked in four runs and scored four times in three games.
Benny Serrano, OF/2B, Covington Lumberjacks – Batted .529 with a home run, three RBIs and a team-best four runs scored as Covington clinched the South pennant.
Kendall Small, 1B/OF, Front Royal Cardinals – Led the Royals in batting (10-for-18, .556), with a home run and six RBIs.
Jared Weatherbee, SP, Charlottesville Tom Sox – Threw five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out eight.
