Victoria Eagles Announce 2023 Premier Pitching Coach Connor Russell

The Victoria Eagles Baseball Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Connor Russell as
the 2023 Premier Eagles Pitching Coach.
Connor played college baseball for the Vancouver Island University between 2010 and 2014 and
stands as VIU’s all-time leader in SO’s, ERA, Wins and Innings Pitched. During the summers of
2011 and 2012, he was a starting pitcher for the Okotoks Dawgs in the WMBL and for the
Victoria HarbourCats in 2013. He played in the Victoria Mavericks League between 2017 and
2019 and in each of those years was the League’s Top Pitcher and Strike Out leader. In 2018, he
was the starting pitcher for the BC Senior Men’s team in the National Finals.
Conner’s coaching career began with Nanaimo Minor Baseball where he was a Head Coach at
the Mosquito, PeeWee, and Bantam levels. He served as VIU’s Pitching Coach between 2015
and 2017. In 2018, Connor joined the Victoria Bantam Eagles as an Assistant Coach and
between 2019 and 2022 he was the Head Coach of the Junior Premier Parksville Royals and the
Pitching Coach of the Premier Royals. In 2016 and 2017, Connor also worked with Big League
Experience as their Pitching and Throwing Coach. Connor is currently a teacher in Victoria
School District 61.
Eagles Head Coach Mitch Davidoff describes his Pitching Coach as “a proven leader and a team
player with an energetic personality. He will bring a professional approach to teaching the
fundamentals of throwing and pitching and possesses a wealth of knowledge about the game of
baseball acquired over his many years of playing and coaching. Connor is an excellent
communicator who motivates and encourages young athletes to maximize their full potential.
He understands what players need to do to progress to the next level and tailors his lessons to
the needs of the individual player.”
With the appointment of Connor Russell, the Victoria Premier Eagles 2023 Coaching Staff now
stands as follows:

Jason Willow – Fielding Coach
