The last weekend was a must win weekend and the Tigers. The Tigers set the tone on Friday with a 7-4 win at home against Saddle Lake, unfortunately Saturday and Sunday each featured a 1 goal loss. That leaves the Tigers 8 points back of 8th place and the final playoff spot.
Goaltender Danton Brooks picked up his 4th win of the season in the victory Friday. the Tigers were led by Carter Myhovich's 2 goal effort. Also scoring for the jungle cats were Ryan VanGenderen, Lucas Dennill, Rylan Mauws, Dalyn Borysiuk and Ian Gadsby. The Tigers ended up going 2 for 5 on the power play, thanks to some undisciplined play from Saddle Lake.
The Cold Lake Ice rolled into Vermilion on Saturday for their final visit of the season. The Tigers were down early as Cold Lake netted their first goal less than a minute in. The Tigers battled back and forth all game but some bad penalties ultimately cost them as Cold Lake scored 3 of their 4 goals on the power play en route to a 5-4 win. Goaltender Brendan Plant was stellar with 47 saves in the losing effort. Evan Bardoel scored twice for the Tigers with Spencer Ross and Rylan Mauws also picking up goals.
The team packed up and headed down 16 to face the Rangers Sunday afternoon in Vegreville. The Tigers came out strong as Evan Bardoel continued his hot play scoring less than a minute into the 1st period. Goalie Danton Brooks stymied the Rangers all night long as Vegreville pushed the pace. The Tigers faced with a power play with 2 minutes remaining in the 3rd period with game tied at 2, gave up a short handed breakway goal to seal the win for Vegreville.
News and Notes: The Tigers play one last game prior to the Christmas Break in Lloydminster Friday night. The team has made a change in an attempt to bring a different dynamic to the locker room. Overage forward Nolan Blair was announced captain.
