Tough losses for Siskins, Sugar Kings

CALEDONIA — The Waterloo Siskins fought hard, but conceded a 4-3 shootout victory to the Caledonia Corvairs at the Haldimand Center on Friday night.

The Siskins’ Jakub Jelen, Danny Hanlon and Ryan Doucette found the net early in the game, giving the team a strong 3-0 lead early in the second period. Caledonia stepped up their game with three goals of their own by the end of the third. After a scoreless overtime, the Corvairs swept the shootout 2-0.

STRATFORD — The Elmira Sugar Kings were outscored 5-2 by the Stratford Cullitons at the Allman Arena on Friday night.

Stratford started strong with two goals from Andrew Barton and one from Josh Miller. Elmira’s Rob Kohli and Adam Dauda answered with a goal each, but the Cullitons’ Ryan Watson and Jonathan Langford sealed the Sugar Kings’ fate when they each found the net in the third period.
