RELEASE: 2015 WCCHA Tournament Schedule Now Available

RELEASE (St. Paul, MN): The scheduleis now set for the 2015 WCCHA Tournament, which will be hosted at the Coon Rapids Ice Center in Coon Rapids, Minnesota, for the first time after having been held at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine for the previous 5 seasons. The first 6 tournaments were held at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

For the first time in 4 years, the tournament will be held over the course of three days, with each team playing no more than one game a day and all teams guaranteed two games. In addition, as part of the unique nature of the CRIC, the "Lucky Loser" game to be played between losing quarterfinalists will take place on the regulation size outdoor rink. All other games will take place on the indoor ice surface, which features seating for up to 750 spectators.

FORMAT: The five full members will be seeded 1-5 for the tournament. The #1 and #2 teams earn a bye into seperate semifinals, while teams #3, #4 and #5 - along with North Dakota State - will play in the quarterfinal round. The team seeded #3 will select their quaterfinal opponent; the remaining two teams will play each other in the remaining game. Following the quarterfinal games, the #1 seed will select their semifinal opponent; the remaining team will play the #2 seed in the second semifinal.

The tournament will include a "lucky loser" game (losers of each quarterfinal will plan each other), 3rd place and Championship game.

For ACHA scoring purposes, regular season protocol will be followed. If an overtime is needed, one 5-minute sudden death period will be played. If the game remains even, the official game result is a tie. However, a best-of-three shootout will be used to determine who advances, or in the final, the WCCHA Champion.
