WEEKEND RECAP 2/12/16-2/14/16: MSU-MANKATO SWEEP SOLIDIFIES TOURNAMENT FIELD
The final series of WCCHA conference play for 2015-2016 held plenty of sway in the final standings and tournament seeding. Minnesota State-Mankato visited the University of Minnesota knowing that two points would push them up to 4th, while two loses would keep them in 6th place. With much on the line, the Mavericks came to play, earning a high scoring 9-5 victory on Friday night. Although the win clinched the 4th spot, Mankato kept the momentum rolling with a 4-3 overtime victory on Saturday to finish 4th with 13 points.
There were two non-conference series this weekend, as St. Cloud State added to their Regionals resume with a sweep of Bethel - 8-7 on Friday and 6-4 on Saturday. Wisconsin also buit some steam heading into the WCCHA Tournament by sweeping away future WCCHA foe Wisconsin-La Crosse by scores of 8-1 and 3-2 (OT).
With the close of the 2015-2016 Regular Season, the WCCHA Tournament first round matchups are set:
