Simi Valley, Calif.- Cal State Northridge and Loyola Marymount traded blows all night but the Matadors came out on top eventually 4-3 in overtime to remain perfect in the WCHC.

Evan Sharpshair wristed the puck over the left shoulder of Jake Blazier from the right circle 22 seconds into the extra period to give the Matadors the win.

CSUN (3-0) is now tied with San Diego State (3-1) for first place and has one game in hand.

David Valencia gave LMU the initial lead at 16:05 of the first period. Matt Boente doubled the lead at 15:08 as he stole the puck from Vincent Sepe shorthanded, skated around the net and stuffed it home. It was the first shorthanded goal of the season for LMU and the first shorthanded goal against for CSUN.

The Matadors scored the only goal of the second. John Michael Laurin found the back of the net at 10:29.

Evan Wright tied the game at two three and a half minutes into the third. Boente struck back for LMU with his second of the game to make it 3-2. Wright again scored with a blast over the left shoulder of Blazier to tie the game at three.

Next weekend boasts a full slate of action in the WCHC. Friday Long Beach State plays their first conference game at LMU. Saturday Long Beach is at home against San Diego State. Sunday it's a rematch between CSUN and LMU, this time with the Lions hosting.
