For the fifth time in the West Coast Hockey Conference's seven year history multiple teams from the conference have qualified for the West Regional Tournament.

Runner-up San Diego State will be the No. 9 seed while this season's champion CSUN will be the No. 10 seed. SDSU will face-off against No. 12 UCLA, the Pac-8 champion, at 11 AM Mountain time on February 23 in the opening round. CSUN will play next at 3:15 against No. 11 Metro State-Denver. The University of Northern Colorado is hosting this year's tournament at the Greeley Ice Haus.

San Diego State will be going to their seventh Regional Tournament since moving up to Division 2 in 2008. CSUN is making their first appearances at Regionals since moving up to D-2 in 2012.

If SDSU beats UCLA they will play the No. 4 seed Utah State in the second round. CSUN would then play the No. 3 seed UNLV if they beat Metro State. If SDSU loses and CSUN wins the Matadors would play Utah State.

Heading into the final two weeks of the season SDSU was ranked ninth and CSUN 12th. CSUN beat SDSU in the WCHC Championship Game 4-3 and went out to play No. 2 UNLV the final week of the regular season which moved them up two spots. Despite the loss in the championship game, SDSU stayed right where they were.
