LMU off to perfect start
Loyola Marymount is off to a hot start through the first three weeks of the season with a 4-0 record.
The Lions kicked off the ninth season in West Coast Hockey Conference history on September 28th beating Long Beach State 5-3. The next night LMU bested conference newcomer San Diego 4-1.
The next weekend the Lions moved to 3-0 outlasting Cal State Fullerton 7-5. LMU then beat another first year WCHC team UC San Diego 8-4.
The Lions are in first place four points ahead of Long Beach State. The 49ers are 2-1 so far this season. After the season opening loss to LMU, Long Beach crushed Chapman 19-0. It was the same story against San Diego as the 49ers won 22-1.
There is currently a three-way tie for third place as Cal State Northridge, UC Santa Barbara and Fullerton all have two points. CSUN beat Fullerton 8-1 in their only conference game while the final new team UCSB beat Chapman 9-1 in their WCHC debut.
