Lakeshore Gets Jump on Exeter with 2-0 Series Lead
Fresh off their defeat of the Essex 73’s to take their second straight Stobbs Division Championship, the Lakeshore Canadiens continue momentum against the Exeter Hawks in the West Division Final with back to back victories in the first to tilts.
The series kicked off last Wednesday March 20th in Lakeshore with the Habs taking game one 3-1.
Dylan Bradley and Brandon Ireland connected to put the Habs up 2-0 after one period which would be all that was needed in this one to give the Canadiens a series opening victory.
Carter McLlwain would net the lone Hawks goal five minutes into the third period while Hunter Bailey added some insurance for the Canadiens two-minutes later to ice the win for Lakeshore.
Shots on goal were fairly even with Lakeshore outshouting the visiting Hawks 29-24.
Game 2 shifted to Exeter two nights later last Friday night with the Habs continuing where they left off with a 6-2 win on the road. Ireland again found the back of the net with his second goal in as many nights to put the visiting Habs up 1-0 after one period.
The Hawks came out flying in the second period and managed to score back to back tallies as Johnathon Frook and Nick Whitworth each scored and made it 2-1 Exeter. But the Habs would fight back to score the tying goal before the middle buzzer, as Eric Larue scored the first of two on the night.
Tycen Chittle, Dylan Bradley and Larue would further connect with three more goals in in the third to lock this one away for the Canadiens who lead the series 2-0 with the series shifting back to Lakeshore for Game 3 Sunday evening at 7pm
