Frank Scigliano has been the best goalie when playing this season, which is excellent for the Burrards as nobody has scored more goals than New Westminster Salmonbellies. Sciggs 2-0 against the Bellies this season, giving up no more than seven goals in those games, and was a significant factor in shutting down New West last season when the Burrards swept them in the first round. Another key Burrards player is Dane Dobbie, who has been nothing but excellent since coming to Maple Ridge. Dobbie has 35 points in seven games with the Burrards, including nineteen points in his last four games.
However, after chatting with New West defender Darryl Robertson, he says the Bellies are “the complete package,” and it’s hard to argue with that. New West was the only team to score at least 200 goals this season, their defense gave up the third-least amount of goals this season, and Alexis Buqe has the most wins for any goalie this season. While Mitch Jones is the guy to watch as he led the league in scoring with 90 points, Austin Shanks is a name that if you hadn’t heard by now, will want to know. In his first WLA season, Shanks has 57 points with 36 goals, including scoring the game-winner when these teams played on June 23.
