A Long Trip to Virginia to Face Liberty University

    Last weekend the Stallions traveled to Virginia to take on Liberty University Flames. This was the first time these two teams have played eachother. The WMU Stallions lost both games, the first game 4-3, and the second 4-0. 

    In the first game Liberty opened up the scoring in the first period with a power play goal, while the Stallions with unable to score off of their 10 shots on net. The second period was one for scoring, the Stallions scoring two goals. The Flames kept a two goal lead by score three goals in the second. Stallion goals were scored by Christian Sana, unassisted, and Brandon Grillio, assisted by Michael Altobelli and Josh Kirsch on a power play. The boys came out for the third managing to score one more goal with an extra attacker. Goal was score by  Brandon Grillo, his second of the night, assisted by Devin Farkas. The final score was 4-3, each team had nine penalties a piece. 

    After a nights rest the boys came out ready to play in game two but were out shot 52-16. Both teams were assessed nine penalties a piece again. With there being 52 shot on net, Woznicki saved 48 of these shots, final score being 4-0.

    Although the Stallions had an unsuccessful weekend the boys said they had a great experience. Liberty was very welcoming and kind. Packard stated, “The environment was electric. The prayers were different than what we were used to, both pre and post game, but even that was cool. It made me feel like these guys were brothers.” Farkas added by saying, “I can honestly say I have never been to a place like Liberty. It was a place that made me feel special, and a place that anyone would be blessed to be.” Radakovitz said that, “with the long road trip down to Liberty they made it a lot easier to really talk and get to know them better.”

    The Stallions will be taking on Oakland University this weekend, Friday home at 8:45pm, Saturday away in Oakland at 8:20pm. Stay tuned to the Stallions twitter for live game updates, @WMU_Stallions.
