Vipers pull away from Preds in 7-4 win
The LaSalle Vipers defeated the Lambton Shores Predators 7-4 Wednesday night at the Vollmer Centre.
Prior to the game, the Vipers paid tribute to those who serve and have served with a Remembrance Day ceremony which featured local veterans and cadets and members of Town Council.
"What a great ceremony prior to the game," says Vipers head coach Bill Bowler. "Today is a special day for us to remember. We made a point to let the players know we have a lot to be thankful for."
The Vipers got in the board first when Blake Jones beat Anthony Hurtubise for a power play goal.
The Predators replied with goals by defenceman Carson Pearce and forward Ethan Sarfati, but Liam MacDougall made sure the game was even heading into the first intermission with a wraparound goal.
Sean Ross gave the Predators the leads at 5:43 of the second, but just 16 seconds later Nathan Savage leveled the game once again.
Connor Rosaasen got the last whack at a loose puck just over four minutes later to restore the Vipers lead, this time for good.
Savage's second of the game added some cushion, and after Sarfati scored his second, Manny Silverio added a pair of late goals to seal it.
"This is probably the best parity we've had in our league in a while," says Bowler. "They beat us last week so it's good to get a little revenge."
Eli Billing stopped 27 shots in the win, while Hurtubise turned aside 45 Vipers attempts.
Savage had a four point night, while Jones and Silverio had three apiece.
The Vipers are in Sarnia Thursday night to take on the Legionnaires.
