While playing stretches of hockey where the Sharks appeared to be the better team in the series, the 73s continued to prevail in 4 straight games. Game 3 was Wheatleys opportunity to take a stranglehold on the series, but Essex managed to post a 1-0 win despite the Sharks outshooting Essex 30-18. Game 4 saw the Sharks lose their composure in the 3rd helping the skate to a 4-1 win. Game 5 saw a back and forth affair where the Sharks had a 1-0 lead going into the 3rd, but a seeing eye point shot and break down in the last minute of play allowed Essex to take a 2-1 victory. Game 6 saw the largest crowd Wheatley arena has seen in years, and they were treated to a physical game with both teams fighting for every inch of ice. The game entered the 3rd tied 0-0, and a power play goal for each team had the game tied 1-1 until a quick Essex shot off a faceoff gave them a 2-1 lead late in the 3rd. They added 2 empty net goals to seal the series as the Sharks pushed to get on the scoreboard.
