WPU CAPS REGULAR SEASON WITH WIN AT LEHIGH

The Pioneers traveled to Bensalem, PA on Saturday, February 16 to take on the Lehigh Mountain Hawks.  This was the second meeting of the season between the teams, with WPU taking the first game on February 2 by a score of 4-0.  Hunter Ledwith (Kinnelon, NJ) got the Pioneers on the board in the first period off assists from Todd Unger (Manchester, NJ) and Nick King (Oak Ridge, NJ).  The game would remain 1-0 until the middle of the 3rd period, when Lehigh got a powerplay goal to tie the game 1-1.   Senior Todd Unger got the game winner for the Pioneers with 6:40 left in the 3rd period off a pass from Alex Cavaluzzo (Parsippany, NJ).  Tommy Bauer's empty net goal sealed the 3-1 victory. 

The Pioneers defensive corps stepped up in this game with big efforts from Jimmy Hunt (Ramsey, NJ), Walt Keiper (Rockaway, NJ), Braden Ploehn (Wayne, NJ) and Scott Huber (Belford, NJ).  Jeremy Hamerquist (Woodland Park, CO) had 31 saves in goal. 

The team closes the regular season at 12-11-0-1 and will be the #3 seed in the ECHA Playoffs scheduled for February 22-24.  The Pioneers will take on Temple in the 1st round on Friday, February 22 in West Chester, PA.
