William Paterson ice hockey hosted two ECHA opponents on the weekend of November 15-16, 2019.  The Pioneers were looking to keep pace in ECHA league play with games versus Penn State-Berks and Lehigh.

WPU 5 PENN STATE-BERKS 1

The Pioneers were looking for the season sweep on Friday night, November 15th vs the Blue Lions of Penn State-Berks.  The Pioneers took the first meeting 11-3 in a matchup back on October 18th.  Zach Thompson (Anchorage, AK) won a late 1st period face off and pushed the puck past the Berks goaltender to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.  Adam Marvin (New City, NY) would score the first of his three goals on the night with a shorthanded goal in the second period.  Scott Huber (Belford, NJ) scored the other Pioneer goal and Jeremy Hamerquist (Woodland Park, CO) made 32 saves for the win in goal.  Marvin on the win,' we just kept grinding, kept hitting, kept putting pressure on the puck in the offensive zone and we got a couple to go in."

WPU 3 LEHIGH 2

On Saturday night, November 16th, the Pioneers took on Lehigh University in another ECHA matchup.  Scott Huber got the Pioneers on the board late in the first period off an assist from Dan Trionfo (Towaco, NJ).  After Lehigh tied the score late in the second period, Tommy Bauer (Fords, NJ) put the Pioneers ahead 2-1.  The Morris County connection of Dave Renzulli (New Vernon, NJ) and Sean Murray (Rockaway, NJ) would come together to seal a 3-2 Pioneers victory.  Cole Mulholland (Pompton Lakes, NJ) made 39 saves for the win in net.

With the 2 wins, the Pioneers climb to the top of the ECHA standings with 20 points.

The team's next game is on Friday, November 22nd at Drexel.  That game will be streamed live on Drexel's Hockey network.

The final games of the semester are December 6th (home) and 7th (away) versus Rutgers.
