Vision

A focus on player development that ensures opportunities at higher levels of hockey and academics

Development

The CIHF believe is modeled after the NCAA, where more practice on-ice/off-ice is preferred over more games. This model is proving successful as more and more NCAA players are being signed and drafted into the NHL.

We are also huge promoters of academics supplemented by athletic achievement. Hockey can provide you with an excellent path to a degree in University in Canada or the USA. Through Hockey you can obtain scholarships that assist witht he cost of education.

A record 305 former college players skated in the NHL in 2013-14, comprising 31% of the league. That number was just 20% at the turn of the century.

College hockey, in short, is the fastest growing development path for the NHL.

Just 10 years ago, just one in five NHLers had a college background. Growth since then has been remarkable, and should continue. In the last seven years, 36% of NHL debuts have been by former college hockey players.

NHL front offices are filled with general managers, assistant general managers and scouts who played the college game. Head coaches and assistant coaches in the league have college backgrounds.

NHL Drafts have featured at least 60 current or future college players for 12 consecutive years, and teams continue to scour the NCAA ranks for free agent signees as well.

Once a hidden gem of hockey talent, college hockey has become one of the biggest suppliers of talent to the NHL, surpassing all Europe.

Operators of Teams in the  AA- A
ORHL League

In the tradition of Independent Hockey, Operators can develop a team   in any city they can obtain ice.

The Operators will have the choice to name teams with the same organization name or a variety of names to connect with the local city where they play.

Operators will not be mandated to offer the exact same program of other operators, however all teams must offer the key components of operating a Team in ORHL Hockey League.  All programs offered by operators must be approved by CIHF.

Each operator must provide matching jerseys and socks.

Professional (non-coach, unless qualified) instruction sessions in skill       specific attributes
o    Power Skating
o    Puck/Stickhandling
o    Shooting
o    Goalie Development

Each Team must attend at least 2 CIHF Sanctioned tournaments, which includes at least 1 in the USA.

The league will require that each team provide the league with a budget to be approved to ensure that each team is delivering on the general vision of the league.

To ensure full transparency and to avoid any parent complaints about funding, each team must establish a team bank account where the operator will be one signing authorities along with one of the parents on the team.

For insurance purposes and to ensure the CIHF can deliver on its mandate, Players will pay a registration fee to the league of $150.00.
