Player Opportunities

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is one of the oldest summer collegiate leagues in the country.  It has been providing players the opportunity to showcase their talents since 1987.

We host an All Star event for chosen players with a prospect showcase followed by the All Star game.  This is routinely attended by over 30 MLB scouts.

We utilize the Pointstreak statistic platform.  The allows us to share our stats with the MLB scouting bureau.

Players will compete against D1 players.  Hitters will show how they can use a wood bat.  Our 42 game schedule allow players time to show their talents and skills.

We are now allowing a limited number of graduated HS seniors who are D1 signees to participate in our league.  This will give them time to learn how to compete at the college level.

Players will have media exposure.   Each game has at least one radio (sometime video streaming) broadcast.  This allows both fans and parents to experience the away games.  Many teams promote themselves and their players through local newspaper, baseball publications and social media.

We have a history of players moving on to the next level to play baseball.  100+ GLSCL alumni have played MLB baseball.  We average 25+ MLB draftees each year.  Through our history thousands of alumni have played professional baseball at some level (affiliated or independent). In 2024, GLSCL alumni players were either drafted or signed free agent contract totally over 3 million dollars in signing bonuses.

We exist to help our alumni to achieve their goal of playing at the next level by bettering their skills and staying healthy.

Player Care

Players will receive coaching from staff members who have either college or professional coaching or playing experience.

We keep our season to a reasonable 42 games.  This insures players have enough games to develop skills while minimizing  the threat of overuse injuries.  We also require that each team has a mandatory day off each week (usually Monday).  Our season is complete before the end of July insuring  players have time to go home and spend time with their families before having to return to school.

We have built this schedule (two divisions with crossovers series) to minimize travel .  Our trips average less than 2.5 hours by bus or van.

Our weekday games usually occur in the evening.  This allows for us to maximize fan exposure thus greatly enhancing the player’s game day experience.

Living conditions vary with every team.  Each team has the ability to provide host families as needed.   We have religious based teams, urban, suburban and rural based living experiences.

We do require players to provide a players fee.  This keeps players involved for the entire summer.

Each team provides a training service.  All players are required to have their own primary medical insurance.  .

We mandate that our teams adhere to the Pitch Smart Guidelines as provided by USA Baseball.

We try to provide a family like atmosphere for our players.  We hope they create and develop relationships that will last a lifetime.
