How the COJCHL playoffs work ...

The COJCHL’s 2014-2015 regular season ends on Sunday, 8 February 2015.  Playoffs begin the next day with a new twist.

The first, second and third place teams have one week off, while the fourth and fifth place teams play a “mini-round”, 3 games in 7 days, to decide who advances to the semi-finals.

If there is a tie for fourth or fifth place, an additional game must be played within that week to break the tie. It is possible that a team could face 4 games in 7 days. This round must be completed by 15 February.

The winner of the “mini-round” plays the first place team; while the second place team competes against the third place team. Semi-final rounds start 16 February and must be completed by 2 March.

The winners of semi-final round advance to compete for the Cougar Cup and the COJCHL Championship. The finals must be completed by 16 March.

The COJCHL champion then enters the race for the All-Ontario Championship and the Clarence Schmaltz Cup. COJCHL’s champion plays the champion of the Empire Junior C Hockey League.

Please note error that has been corrected. The "mini-round" is best of 3, not 5, games and the maximum number of games in the week becomes 4, not 6. Our apologies for any inconvience this error has caused.
