Parks

Labatt Memorial Park

Voted Canada's Favourite Ball Park in 2011, Labatt Memorial Park is the oldest continually operated ball park in the world.

Labatt Park is the home of the London Majors Baseball Club and has played host to several professional baseball clubs including the London Werewolves of the Frontier League, the London Monarchs of the CBL and the AA London Tigers of the Eastern League.  It is also the home of the Western University Mustangs baseball club.

Just three weeks after the first game was hosted at the park on May 3, 1877, the National League Champion Boston Red Stockings edged the London Tecumsehs 7-6 in front of 8000 fans. For the past 136 years, Labatt has been the home of minor, senior and professional baseball. Mooney Gibson, Satchel Paige, Fergie Jenkins, Lester B. Pearson, Denny McLain, Paul Spoljaric and Wayne Gretzky are just some of the notables who have played at the park.

In recent years, the park has been host to the 2012 Baseball Canada Cup, the 2011 Ontario Junior Eliminations, the 2010 & 2009 Ontario Senior Eliminations, the 2010 Baseball Canada Midget National Championship, and the 2001 Canada Summer Games.

We look forward to welcoming you to the 2013 Ontario Senior Eliminations Tournament at our showcase field, Labatt Memorial Park.

Dan Pulham Memorial Park

Located 15 minutes from Labatt Park, Dan Pulham Field is named after the former President of the LDBA and is the home of London District Baseball Association and the London Badgers Baseball Club.

For so many people who organize and play the game of baseball in the City of London, the name Dan Pulham meant fairness and sportsmanship.  He was a tireless volunteer and administrator who always had time to listen to concerns and ideas.  Dan was listed among the top 25 most influential sports people in the City of London in 2005 by the London Free Press.

A long time and successful coach, Dan was named London Sportsperson of the Year in 2001, Baseball Ontario Volunteer of the Year in 2002 and was inducted into the LDBA Hall of Fame in 2007.  Dan passed away in 2008 and in 2009, LDBA Park was officially renamed Dan Pulham Memorial Field in his honour.

Emslie Field at Pinafore Park - St. Thomas

Just 30 minutes south of London is St. Thomas' Emslie field in Pinafore Park.  Currently the home of the St. Thomas Tomcats and the St. Thomas Cardinals, Emslie Field has played co-host to the 2011 Ontario Junior Eliminations, the 2009 and 2010 Ontario Senior Eliminations and the 2010 Baseball Canada Midget National Championships.

The field is named after Bob Emslie, a Major League pitcher in the late 1800s who lived in St. Thomas upon his retirement. After his playing career which included stints with the Baltimore Orioles and the Philadelphia A's, Emslie became a Major League umpire. After a controversial incident in a game at the Polo Grounds in 1908, legendary New York Giants manager John McGraw gave Emslie the nickname 'Blind Bob'. Bob Emslie was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame in 1986.

A significant upgrade is underway at Emslie Field as new lights and a new scoreboard will be ready for the 2013 season.
