M3-San Francisco State survives M2 Stanford University comeback, wins 7-5

M2 Stanford University tried to dig itself out of a three-goal hole, but M3-San Francisco State held on for a 7-5 victory.

A goal by Jonathan Angulo put M3-San Francisco State up 7-4 in the third period, but M2 Stanford University pulled to within two on Phillip Barton's tally 1:51 into the third period.

Andrew Mason was all over the ice for M3-San Francisco State, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Mason scored the first of his two goals short handed at 1:04 into the first period to make the score 1-0 M3-San Francisco State. Mason's next tally short handed made the score 6-4 M3-San Francisco State with 2:43 left in the second period. Matan Geller assisted on the tally.

M3-San Francisco State surpassed its usual scoring output this season. M3-San Francisco State averages 3.3 goals per game. M3-San Francisco State was forced to rely heavily on their penalty kill unit throughout the game, as it racked up 26 penalty minutes.

M3-San Francisco State additionally got points from Matthew Gault, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Jacob Graham, who also racked up two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. Nathan Ludicke also scored for M3-San Francisco State. Other players who recorded assists for M3-San Francisco State were Vincent Delorenzi, who had one and Brian Lu, who had two.

M2 Stanford University forced M3-San Francisco State goalie Travis Koonze to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots. M2 Stanford University's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals.

M2 Stanford University was helped by Nate Warner, who registered one goal and two assists. Warner scored on the power play 12:50 into the second period to make the score 4-4. M2 Stanford University had taken the advantage when M3-San Francisco State's Casey Ticsay got sent off for tripping. Barton provided the assist. M2 Stanford University also got points from Atich Agarwala, who also had one goal and one assist, Barton, who also finished with one goal and two assists, and Drew Higgins, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. M2 Stanford University also got a goal from Ricky Marscal as well. In addition, M2 Stanford University received assists from Will Kindschuh, who had two.

Koonze recorded 29 saves for M3-San Francisco State. M3-San Francisco State registered two goals on four power play opportunities. Steve Wilson made 21 saves for M2 Stanford University on 28 shots. M2 Stanford University incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
