Newman Youth Sports Camps

Wanna be a Counsellor?

Since its inception in 2004, Newman Youth Sports Camp has provided hundreds of high school students with employment opportunities during their summer vacation.  The camp has proven to be a very popular place of employment because of its fun-filled atmosphere and the rewarding nature of the wrok that is involved.  Serving as a counsellor or activities' coordinator is a great opportunity for students who wish to work with other kids in a camp setting.  As another season of camp fast approaches, so too do the opportunities to seek employment with Newman Youth Sports Camp.  If you are interested in working at this year's camp, here are a few details you need to be aware of ....

  • First time employees and all Grade 9 employees, are required to volunteer for the first week of service and are eligible for pay for all subsequent weeks of service
  • Camp volunteer hours do NOT count toward the completion of your HWCDSB Christian Service Hours (all volunteer hours accumulated while working at camp count toward credit for graduation awards and/or applicable scholarships)
  • Although we would love to hire all applicants, we cannot guarantee your placement. Positions will be filled on the basis of demand and availability ( which is subject to change)
  • We operate two weeks of camp during the summer.  Each week consists of 5 days of service from 8:30 am – 3:15 pm.  It is our expectation that employees be present for all five days
  • On the first day of each camp session, employees must arrive at 8:00 am to assist with set-up, registration, and greeting of campers
  • All employees must arrive on time each day, wearing a uniform shirt (provided by the camp), athletic shorts, and athletic shoes with laces tied (we are looking for good role-models)
  • Although it is not a requirement, Newman Youth Sports Camp will give preferential consideration to applicants who have previously attended the camp (our way of giving back)
  • To be eligible for employment, you must complete the Camp Employee Application Form (see below)
