Hi Everyone,

Good Morning Ospreys,

During the infectious period* of someone with COVID-19, a close contact is someone:

• • they had face to face interaction with indoors or outdoors for at least 15 minutes, including 15 minutes in total over a 24 hour period, or
  • they were within 2 meters (6 feet) indoors for at least 15 minutes, including 15 minutes in total over a 24 hour period, or
  • they were hugging, kissing, coughing or sneezing near, or
  • who provided care to them at home.

If the person who tested positive wore an appropriate well-fitting mask properly for the duration of the interaction, this wouldn’t be considered a close contact situation. An appropriate mask could be a three layer non-medical mask (that includes a filter layer), a medical mask, or a respirator.

*Infectious period of someone with COVID-19 begins 48 hours (two days) before symptoms started, or, if no symptoms, 48 hours before the positive test was taken; for length of infectious period for positive cases see here.
 

Measures for non-household close contacts
Not required to isolate

• For 4 days, follow enhanced measures:
  • Wear a properly fitted, three-layer cloth mask or medical mask outside your home (and as much as possible during physical/recreational activities)
  • Work from home as much as possible.
  • When at work, practice physical distancing including while eating or drinking.
• Be tested on day 4 at a testing clinic.
• For 10 days since your last contact with the positive case,
  • Self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19 for 10 days
  • If symptoms develop, immediately isolate and get tested.
  • Do not visit high-risk settings or individuals (settings such as long-term care, community care and other congregate living facilities, childcare facilities, and individuals who may be at risk for severe COVID-19 outcomes). This 10 day restriction does NOT apply to:
    • staff who wear well-fitting masks and following appropriate COVID-19 protocols, and
    • children attending childcare facilities.

Household members  (who are not identified as close contacts) are not required to take any additional steps, they should continue to follow standard public health measures including monitoring for symptoms and getting tested at a testing clinic if symptoms develop.

Happy New Year!! I hope everyone is enjoying their holidays.

First practice back after the holidays will be Monday January 6th (changed from Saturday January 4th) at Gulf Shore.
We will also be having our Annual General Meeting Monday January 6th from 7pm-8pm at Gulf Shore.
We encourage as many parents as are able to attend our meeting to do so. 
We will be discussing future open positions on the board, our annual jamboree in February amongst other items.

Due to weather and school closures, practice is cancelled for junior minis tonight, Feb 13th.

The North Shore Minor Basketball Association's Annual Jamboree was held on Saturday February 9th. Hosting teams from 8 associations from across the Island for a total of 47 games. Playing were boys and girls from Small Ball to Mini (gr 1-6) with a great turnout of players and parents. North Shore Ospreys would like to thank all volunteers, coaches, visiting teams and officials for another successful jamboree.

Congratulations to all teams, coaches, officials and volunteers on another phenomenal jamboree here on The North Shore! Thanks to Gulf Shore Consolidated and Ecole Saint-Augustin for providing a place for our children to play this great sport 

Thank you to our fans who encouraged & cheered for everyone on the court. Nothing brightens a child's day more than cheering from the sidelines.

Thank you to our officials and our coaches who gave their time to share their love of basketball with our children.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 2 months already and Christmas is approaching fast.
We will be taking a break for the holidays so practices are all finished now until Saturday January 5th.

Our jamboree is a huge part of the success of our association and the support we receive from all of you is what makes it possible. 

We were fortunate to welcome 8 associations for a total of 45 games between the 2 schools, from Small Ball to Mini (gr 1-6) with a great turnout of players and parent. We wish to extend a huge thank you to those teams who participated at Gulf Shore in the afternoon for their patience and understanding as we were running behind.

Huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped to make everything run smoothly in our hospitality rooms, canteen and on the courts. We are fortunate to have such great support from our community and parents. Thank you to all of our refs for their coaching and encouragement of all participating players while officiating,  allowing all players to not just play the games but also learn and improve their skills.
