Intern/Volunteer Openings

2016 Internships

The Nevada Bighorns a member of the Golden State Collegiate Baseball League is looking for qualified candidates as interns for Spring-Summer 2016.  Bighorn internships are a great way to get started on a career in baseball, as interns get the chance to work in all facets of the organization.

All Internships are unpaid; college credit will apply where available.

 

Marketing Internship

  • Assist with distribution of Bighorn marketing material to potential sponsors
  • Assist with grassroots marketing material
  • Develop new leads for tickets and sponsorships
  • Assist with sponsorships
  • Distribute schedules, ticket information and other Bighorn material to promote every home game
  • Help set up promotional items, programs, giveaways for each home game
  • Coordinate game day staff
  • Assist with special events and appearances
  • Bring new ideas and creativity
  • Intern has opportunity to earn commission on sales made
     

Ballpark Operations Internship

  • Support the Director of Ballpark Operations with game day tasks
  • Assist with setup for game days
  • Follow through on all game day responsibilities
  • Set up of all concession areas in the ballpark
  • Help coordinate and manage game day staff
  • Help staff prepare and maintain ballpark for all home games
  • Assist with inventory and ordering
  • Available to work full schedule, including nights, weekends & holidays
  • Any other task that is required in the day-to-day operations of running a baseball club
  • Dependable with reliable transportation
  • Available for all home games and play-offs (if necessary)
     

Social Media Relations/Journalism Internship

  • Manage all baseball information, including daily statistical packages and game notes
  • Responsible for all press box operations, coordinating with media to cover events at the ballpark
  • Serve as liaison between members of the Bighorns and the local and regional media
  • Write and distribute press releases, newsletters and other information to media and fans
  • Generate ideas and content and serve as editor for game-day program, which will be updated for each home game
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with local and regional media outlets, while aggressively pursuing ways to maximize coverage for the club
  • Responsible for all updates and new content for the official Bighorns Website
  • Coordinate with scorekeeper
  • Responsible for updating Bighorns social media on Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat
  • Strong knowledge of baseball rules and statistics
     

Requirements/Skills:

Candidate must possess strong communication skills, the ability to multi-task efficiently, very detail oriented and great organizational skills. A great work ethic, positive attitude, customer service skills, team player and self-motivation are keys to succeeding in professional sports. Interns will be asked to work outside their job descriptions, so the ability to work well with change and unexpectedness is important. Each candidate must live in the area and have transportation and lodging available. Candidates can earn commission on any sponsorship/ticket sales.
 

Video Production Intern

Responsibilities:

The Video Production Intern will produce a 1-2 camera video webcast for all home games for the Bighorn. Main duties include remote camera operations, video and audio broadcast productions, and archiving all games. This intern will also be able to produce web content for our official website including player interviews, promotional spots and highlight packages. Other duties include creating and updating between-inning material for game broadcasts, group sales, distribution of literature and ticket sales.

Requirements:

Experience with video production equipment including professional video cameras. Graphics and animation software such as adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, After Effects, CS3, and other various effects programs. Must be self-motivated and pursuing a degree in the field. Please submit examples of past work.
 

Operations/Concessions Internship

  • Help with setup and cleanup of all events held at the ballpark
  • Supervise game day staff and help with scheduling
  • Heavily focused on all concessions responsibilities including with ordering food/beverage, food preparation and management of staff
  • Responsible for the general appearance and cleanliness of the ballpark
     

Team Statistician

Responsible for collection of all in game statistics and analysis using dedicated baseball computer stats software Pointstreak the GSCBL’s official stat program. This person will be responsible for all home games and insuring that proper game stats are upload to league and individual team websites. Additional, responsibilities include working closely with Media Relations to insure that stories are in place with local media outlets prior to deadlines for news reporting as well as delivered weekly to Major League Baseball’s Scouting Bureau and the players college coaching staff.
 

PA Announcer

Responsibilities:

Ballpark announcer for the 2016 season will be announcing all of the home games.  We are searching for quality individual to serve as a PA announcer for the Nevada Bighorns summer season. Interact directly with players, coaches, and fans. 

Requirements:

Must be reliable and able to commit to for the entire home summer baseball schedule. Must have some experience in a similar capacity (college radio, other sports PA experience, etc.)

2016 Game Day Staff

The Nevada Bighorns are seeking friendly, motivated team players for volunteering at Home Games.  Are you a people person?  Are you a person of integrity with a good work ethic?  Then a volunteering with the Nevada Bighorns may be for you!  Our positions will provide you with a fun and exciting environment to earn community service credits for the summer.

As a volunteer of the Nevada Bighorns Baseball Club, you will receive a unique opportunity to be a 'team player' in a sports setting.  This experience will allow you to be a part of our summer league duties for about 25 home games, with the possibility of more days if the Bighorns enter the playoffs.  Included in your job description is hard work on a daily basis.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Willingness to work where needed in areas of the Ballpark: This includes, but is not limited to areas of concessions, ushering, ticket taking, customer service, and park cleanup.
  • As a volunteer of the Bighorns, you will be expected to work in fast paced situations, and show a positive attitude with exceptional customer service skills. 
  • As an expectation, you will be required to dress appropriately, and to participate in orientation and training sessions.
  • We are looking for volunteers that can work most of the 25 home game days!

Host Family Coordinator

Responsibilities:

This position will require you to find, interview and inspect potential host families for incoming players. You will also track and update host families and place players when they arrive in town.

Requirements:

Must be a people person, reliable and self-motivated. This is one of the most important positions to build on the success of our club.
