Syracuse, NY -- The Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League has selected the University of Rhode Island’s Curtis Briggs as the conference’s Player of the Month for November 2021. The sophomore goaltender posted a 4-1-1 record in the month of November including a 26 save shutout against the United States Naval Academy on November 12th. The Rhode Island native also allowed 2 or fewer goals in 5 out of his 6 appearances bringing his goals against average down to 2.72. Briggs now has 8 wins on the season – good for 8th most in the country and 2nd most in the ESCHL; just 1 win behind Stony Brook’s Matvei Kazakov.

Briggs posted a perfect 2-0 record in conference play in the month of November when URI swept Syracuse back on the first weekend of the month. The 2 wins helped propel URI into 3rd place in the ESCHL despite playing only 8 conference games thus far – tied for the least amount of games played amongst the 6 teams. Furthermore, the University of Rhode is now ranked 25th in the country in the latest ACHA M1 rankings released on November 24th. URI’s #30 also started 2 of the 3 games when the Rams competed at the Chicago Showcase on November 19th-21st against several of the top ranked teams in the ACHA. Briggs allowed just 2 goals on 26 shots against 16th ranked Illinois in a 2-1 loss in Rhode Island’s first game of the weekend.

Curtis Briggs and the rest of the Rhode Island Rams will face off against Drexel University on the road this upcoming weekend in 2 pivotal conference games.
