The Lake Erie Monarchs take out the Richmond Jazz with help from Huntley, 2-1

June 14, 2016
10:04 PM EDT

CJ Huntley went 1-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Lake Erie Monarchs (4-5) to a 2-1 victory in seven innings over the Richmond Jazz (0-9) on Tuesday at Flat Rock Field.

He homered in the first inning.

The Richmond Jazz's lineup had no answer for Evan Marquardt. The Richmond Jazz managed just one hit off of Marquardt, who allowed no earned runs, walked five and struck out five during his five innings of work.

Kyle Shepherd was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Lake Erie Monarchs batters and allowing two runs.

Shepherd was charged with his first loss of the year.
