The Lorain County Ironmen (14-23) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Grand Lake Mariners (20-17), recording a 15-2 victory on Friday at The Pipeyard.

With seven runs in the first three innings, the Lorain County Ironmen left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A two-run single by Matthew Malkin during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Justin Mott, an RBI triple by Luis Jimenez, and an RBI single by Rees Rua in the second inning fueled the Lorain County Ironmen's offense early.

Jimenez put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Lorain County Ironmen.

Matt McConnell had an impressive outing against the Lorain County Ironmen's lineup. The Lorain County Ironmen managed just three hits off of McConnell, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Braun Miller recorded his third win of the year for the Lorain County Ironmen. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out six, walked two and surrendered five hits.

Justin Palmbos was charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked none and struck out two.
