OHIO BISON 7 HAMILTON JOES 6 - GAME 1
FOUNDATION FIELD - In a game back-and-fourth game producing two ties and three lead change the Ohio Bison held on beating the Hamilton Joes 7-6 in the first game of a double header.
In the bottom of the seventh inning trailing by three runs the Joes made a furious comeback. Luke Arnold (Wright State) stroked a 2-run double sending the go-ahead run to the plate.
Matthew Hyatt (Coker College) struck out Tyler Hinrikus (Ball State) securing the win for the Bison and his third save of the season.
Mitchell Smith (Columbia State CC) led the way offensively for the Bison going 3-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

Gavin Thompson (Dennison) also contributed three hits scoring two runs for the Bison.
Arnold laced three hits, two of which were doubles, driving in three RBIs for the Joes in the losing effort.
HAMILTON JOES 9 OHIO BISON 3 - GAME 2
FOUNDATION FIELD - The Hamilton Joes (6-4) salvaged a split of the double header with a 9-3 win over the Ohio Bison in the night cap at Foundation Field.
Joes starting pitcher Bryce Smith (Northern Kentucky) was dominate throwing six scoreless innings giving up just one hit and one walk.
Smith was perfect through the first 3 and 1/3 innings before giving up a one out walk. He still faced the minimum in the inning when he followed the base on balls with a ground ball double play.
Smith, who played his school baseball at Dixie Heights High School in Edgewood, Kentucky, lost his no-hit bid surrendering a his only hit leading off the fifth inning.

Tyler Hinrikus (Ball State) hit a two run home run, the Joes first of the year, in the third inning.
The Bison (7-2) held on to its half game lead in the GLSCL South Division standings.
XENIA SCOUTS 8 CINCINNATI STEAM 4 - GAME 1
GRADY’S FIELD - The Xenia Scouts overcame a four-run deficit doubling up the Cincinnati Steam in the first game of a double header at the Athletes in Action Complex winning 8-4.
The Steam getting off to a fast start, scored four runs in the second inning. Run producing singles by Drew Klaserner (Charleston) and Harrison Johnson (Ohio University) fueling the offensive surge.
Xenia countered with two runs in the bottom of the second inning cutting the deficit in half.
The Scouts scored four more times in the third inning going station-to-station. A bases loaded walk followed by back-to-back singles with ducks on the pond by Jacob Kline (Shawnee State) and Matt McNaney (Trinity University). A fielder’s choice ground out off the bat of Michael Bernhardt (Southeastern Oklahoma State) capped the scoring in the inning.
Cole Steadman (Birmingham Southern) singled in the sixth inning plating two more runs putting the game out of reach.
CINCINNATI STEAM 4 XENIA SCOUTS 2 - GAME 2
GRADY’S FIELD - The Cincinnati Steam returned the favor with a comeback of its own in the second game salvaging the split with a 4-2 victory.
Cole Steadman (Birmingham Southern) launched his first home run of the season getting the Scouts (3-6) off to a 2-0 advantage in the fourth inning.
Cincinnati tied the game in the fifth inning with an RBI single and by Kory Klingenbeck (Walters State CC) plus a Xenia error.
The Steam took the lead in the sixth inning on a pair of Xenia wild pitches.
The Steam (7-3) maintained it second place position in the South Division standings trailing the Ohio Bison by half a game.
RICHMOND JAZZ 10 OHIO MARLINS 9 - FINAL
OLSEN FIELD - The Richmond Jazz scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning escaping Circleville with a 10-9 victory over the Ohio Marlins.
Trailing 10-9, the Jazz (4-6) tied the score with a 2-run single by Bradley Fleenor (Thomas University). Cael Chatham (LaGrange College) drove in the winning run with his third hit of the night.
The game provided many twists and turns thanks in part to three lead changes in the first three innings. The two teams combined for nine runs in the third inning alone.
Tyler Johnson (Coastal Carolina) went 3-for-3 for the Jazz with a home run, double and two runs scored.
Angus Stayte (St. Mary’s College of CA) pounded out four hits and Andrew Daria (Ohio Christian) provided three base knocks of his own for the Marlins (2-7). Gavin Lovesky (Culver-Stockton College) added his first home run of the season.
GALION GRADERS 9 JET BOX BASEBALL CLUB 5 - FINAL
MILFORD HIGH SCHOOL - The Galion Graders tripped up the first place Jet Box Baseball Club on its home field with a 9-5 win in Highland, Michigan.
Jet Box got off to a fast start scoring three runs in the first inning. The big hit was a two-run single by Brennan Lux (Macomb CC).
Galion (4-5) scored four runs in the sixth inning taking the lead. Ben Sinins (Bucknell) drove in two of his three RBIs with a base hit setting the tone in the inning.
The Graders tacked on three insurance runs in the ninth sealing the victory.
Brian Erbe (Purdue Fort Wayne) went 3-for-4 for the Graders. Jacob Rybicki (Northwood) countered with three hits of his own for Jet Box.
Despite the loss, Jet Box remains at the top of North Division standings two full games ahead of the Lima Locos.
MUSKEGON CLIPPERS 8 LIMA LOCOS 7 - FINAL
MARSH FIELD - The Muskegon Clippers answered an onslaught from the Lima Locos earning a one-run win with an 8-7 decision at Marsh Field.
Trailing 7-3 the Clippers (6-5) put a five-spot on the board in the eighth inning for the come-from-behind victory.
Wesley Mitchell (Texas (A&M Corpus Christi) drove in two runs with a double and scored on an RBI base hit off the bat of Evan Balzano (Malone College).
Levi Jensen (North Alabama) completed the Clippers comeback with a two-run homer.
Thomas Sylvester (Kalamazoo College) survived a Locos ninth inning hanging on to earn the victory for Muskegon.
Lima (6-4) sent 11 men to the plate in the seventh inning scoring seven times. The Locos were powered by a pair of two-run home runs off the bats of T.J. Reeves (Alabama) and Derrick Jackson Jr. (Jacksonville State).
SANDUSKY BAY ICE HAULERS 1 ROYAL OAK LEPRECHAUNS 0 - FINAL/10
SPORTS FORCE PARK - The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers extended it GLSCL best six-game winning streak with a 1-0 extra inning win over the Royal Oak Leprechauns.
The Ice Haulers (6-5) came into the game averaging 11.4 runs per contest in its last five games. It took them ten innings to score the only run it needed for this win.
Scott Mackiewicz (Toledo) stepped to the plate with the bases loaded, hitting a sacrifice fly scoring pinch runner Tyson Mickie (Middle Tennessee State) for the winning run.
Landon Smiddy (East Tennessee State) threw seven shutout innings for Sandusky Bay, scattering five hits, striking out four batters.
Mitchell Spencer (USC Upstate) went three hitless innings out for the bullpen for the Ice Haulers with five strikeouts earning the victory.
Royal Oak (4-6) also benefitted from a great pitching performance from it’s starting pitcher. Derek Clark (Northwood) countered Smiddy going seven innings of scoreless baseball giving up just five hits with six strikeouts.
MICHIGAN MONARCHS 12 GRAND LAKE MARINERS 5 - FINAL
SIENNA HEIGHTS BASEBALL DIAMOND - The Michigan Monarchs come up clutch scoring nine runs over the course of the game with two outs in an inning for a 12-5 win over the Grand Lake Mariners.
The Monarchs (3-6) offense produced 15 hits including three for Dillon Kark (Michigan State) plus a two-run homer by Ryan Missal (Western Michigan).
Ryan Davis (four) and Garrett Felix (three) combined for seven of the 12 Grand Lake (3-7) hits.
ABOUT THE GREAT LAKES SUMMER COLLEGIATE LEAGUE
The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1986 playing its first season in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 14 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
