GLSCL recap July 18, 2022
CINCINNATI STEAM @ XENIA SCOUTS - DH
GRADY’S FIELD - The Xenia Scouts benefitted from Garrett DeClue’s second no-hitter of the season completing a double header sweep of the Cincinnati Steam on Monday at Grady’s Field.
We checked with GLSCL historian Tom Usher from the Lima News and we confirmed that DeClue is the first GLSCL pitcher to ever throw two no-hitters in league history.
The Scouts (18-16) forced a three-team log jam for second place in the GLSCL South Division standings. The Scouts, the Steam and the Hamilton Joes are all now two full games behind the first place Licking County Settlers.
The Scouts won the 1-0 pitcher’s duel as the Xenia offense was held to just three hits on the game. DeClue (University of the Cumberlands) struck out five batters over the course of seven innings walking just two batters allowing just four total base runners.

The Scouts scored the game’s only run on back-to-back doubles by the first two batters they sent to the plate. Tyler Haskins (Fairmont State) lead off the first inning with a two-base hit and scored on Tommy Rover’s (Fresno Pacific) two-bagger.
That was all the offense that DeClue would need as he kept the Steam off balance over the course of his 103-pitch workload.
Nick Falter (Dennison University) was outstanding for the Steam (18-16) despite coming up on the losing end of the stick. Falter struck out seven batters over the course of five innings and didn’t allow a hit after the first two batters.
Xenia won the opener setting the tone for the events of the evening winning by a score of 5-1.
Colby Feris (Tarleton State) went 3-for-4 reaching base on all four of his plate appearances. Feris contributed a double, an RBI and a run scored.
