SANDUSKY BAY ICE HAULERS 7 MUSKEGON CLIPPERS 0
SPORTS FORCE PARK - The Sandusky Bay Ice Haulers won its eighth game in a row while snapping the Muskegon Clippers eight-game winning streak with a 7-0 victory at Sports Force Park.
The Clippers (8-1) were the last GLSCL team to fall from the ranks of the undefeated. Muskegon now holds a slim half-game lead over the Ice Haulers in the North Division standings.
Sandusky Bay (8-2) benefited from strong pitching that only gave up three hits all night.
Cooper Fiehrer (Marietta College) got the starting pitching six strong innings. Fiehrer gave up just two hits registering fur strikeouts while walking only one batter. The Hamilton, Ohio native improved his record to 2-0 on the season.
R.J. Shunck (University of Toledo) and Ben Palomo (West Virginia Tech) combined to close out the final three innings out of the Ice Haulers bullpen.
Luke Walton (University of Toledo) and Rhett Stokes (New Mexico Military Institute) each had two hits for Sandusky Bay. Chyran Humphries (Eastern Michigan scored two runs and stole two bases.
The second game of the three-game series continues on Wednesday in Sandusky. If Muskegon bounces back with a win, the Clippers will extend its first place lead. If Sandusky Bay is victorious the Ice Haulers will leap into first place.
LIMA LOCOS 6 ROYAL OAK LEPRECHAUNS 3
MEMORIAL PARK FIELD - The Lima Locos went on the road earning a 6-3 win over the Royal Oak Leprechauns in the opener of a three-game series.
The Locos got off to a good start taking an early 2-0 lead.
In the first inning, Kolton Schaller (Kent State) led off the game with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by his college teammate Conor Ashby.
Lima put runners on the corners in the second inning when Anthony Zarlingo (Southwest Tennessee CC) grounded into a fielder’s choice. This allowed Justin Rumfield (Midland College), who reached base on a double, to scored from third base.
The Leprechauns (4-6) cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan Callanan (San Bernardino Valley College) was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded forcing Tyler Yakimisky (Illinois Springfield) across the plate.
Lima led 4-3 going into the ninth inning when the Locos scored a pair of insurance runs. Schaller scored when Eduarny Martinez (Cochise College) smacked a double. Landon Underhill (McLennan CC) was walked with the bases loaded scoring Ashby.
Micah Takac (Mercer University) pitched a perfect ninth inning for his second save of the season.
The Locos fourth straight win gives them a record of 8-3 just one game behind the first place Muskegon Clippers for the third place in the North Division standings.
Lima and Royal Oak meet again on Wednesday for the middle game of its three-game series with venue shifting to Lima’s Simmons Field.
MICHIGAN MONARCHS 7 JET BOX BASEBALL CLUB 0
CLEARY UNIVERSITY - The Michigan Monarchs shutout the Jet Box Baseball Club 7-0 at Cleary University opening up a three-game series.
Quinton Konuszewski (University of Pittsburgh) set the tone for the Monarchs on the mound. Konuszewski improved his record on the the year to 2-0 going six and 2/3 inning striking out a season high seven batters while scattering four hits.
Joe Turner (Henry Ford CC) pitched the final two innings in his Monarchs debut. Turner gave up two hits and one walk while striking out two batters.
The game was scoreless going into the bottom of the fifth inning when Michigan scored four runs.
The Monarchs started the inning with three straight hits. Mark Harden (Saginaw Valley State) led off with a single followed by RBI-double by his college teammate Connor Cornwell. T.J. Potcova (Henry Ford CC) came to the plate next driving in Cornwell thanks to a triple.
Jaysen Dower (Point University) and Ethan Rose (Saginaw Valley State) each produced RBI-singles giving the Monarchs a 4-0 advantage. Potcova provided in his second RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning.
The game was put further out of reach when the Monarchs scored twice more in the seventh inning.
Jet Box (1-8), who a struggled getting out of the game this season, was held scoreless for the third time this year on just six hits.
Michigan (5-6) looks raise its season record to the .500 mark when the two teams meet again on Wednesday.
HAMILTON JOES 10 XENIA SCOUTS 5
GRADY’S FIELD - The Hamilton Joes went on the road using an impressive offensive performance beating the first place Xenia Scouts 10-5 at Grady’s Field.
The Joes racked up 18 hits led by Cameron Bryant (Holy Cross) who went 4-for-5 at the plate. Michael Sizemore (Lindsey Wilson College) and Carter Rust (University of Charleston) each chipped in with three hits apiece.
Hamilton benefitted from the long ball as well. Griff Cady (Winona State) and Jake Paulick (Northern Kentucky) each hit home runs for the Joes.
A six-run outburst by the Joes in the seventh inning broke a 2-2 tie.
Hamilton took the lead when Rust laced a double scoring Stephen Stigler (Miami University-Hamilton) from second base. Christopher Hoffmann (Miami University-Hamilton) drove in a pair of runs with a double of his own. Hoffman scored on a single off the bat of Bryant and Paulick capped the rally with a two-run homer.
Xenia rallied in the bottom of the ninth but couldn’t overcome the deficit. Anthony Hausner (The Citadel), who had a team high four hits, drove in Kyle Wu (Wheaton College) placing runners on the corners.
Cooper Robinson (Butler University) struck out back-to-back Xenia batters pouring water on the threat and giving the Joes a road victory.
Despite the loss, the Scouts (9-3) remain in first place atop of the South Division standings. Xenia will host the Grand Lake Mariners on Wednesday. Hamilton (5-6) travels to Athens taking on the Southern Ohio Copperheads.
RICHMOND JAZZ 1 LICKING COUNTY SETTERS 0
McBRIDE STADIUM - The Richmond Jazz scratched out its only run without the benefit of hit making it stand up for a 1-0 win at home over the Licking County Settlers.
The Jazz (6-5) also gained some much need ground on the first place Xenia Scouts. Richmond is now two games behind the Scouts in sole possession of the second place of the GLSCL South Division standings.
In the bottom of the second inning, Jonathan Vigoa (Miami University) reached base on a one-out walk. Vigoa stole second base and scored on a costly Licking County error.
Three Richmond pitchers combined for the shutout holding the Settlers to just five hits.
Tyler Ronevich (Miami University) started the game going six innings improving his record to 2-0 registering six strikeouts in the process.
Casper Clark (John A. Logan) set up the closer with two scoreless innings. Jaden Varner (Kent State) slammed the door for the save holding off the Settlers in the ninth.
The Licking County pitching staff deserved a better fate as three hurlers combined to only surrender one unearned run.
Aidan Layton (Seton Hill) was tagged with a tough luck loss after giving up just two hits over the course of five innings.
Zach Marzetz (Marietta College) faced the minimum in his two innings of work striking out four of those six batters.
Charlie Schafer (Wittenberg University) retired the side in order during his only inning of work in the eighth inning.
The Settlers (1-9) could not take advance of two hits apiece from Nick Lukac (University of Indianapolis) and Ben Vore (Wright State). Licking County failed to take advantage of opportunities by stranding 11 runners on base.
Richmond continues its home stand on Wednesday playing host to the Cincinnati Steam while Licking County regroups during on off day on Wednesday.
SOUTHERN OHIO COPPERHEADS 15 GRAND LAKE MARINERS 13
MONTGOMERY FIELD - The Southern Ohio Copperheads won a wild slugfest in Celina getting out of town with a 15-13 win over the Grand Lake Mariners.
The two teams combined for a total of 28 runs on 31 hits.
Copperheads left fielder Jake Agarwal (Butte College transfer) went 2-for-5 at the plate driving in a GLSCL season high seven RBIs. Agarwal’s total output was helped by a grand slam home run in the sixth inning.
Agarwal’s seven RBIs is the most in a GLSCL game since 2019 when Lima’s Tyler Tolve drove in nine RBIs against the Copperheads.
Evan St.Claire (University of the Cumberlands) also came up big for Southern Ohio. St. Claire was 3-for-6 with a home run and a double.
Lucas Steele (Samford University) had an impressive night for the Mariners in the losing effort. The Grand Lake catcher was 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs. Jace Fowler (Indiana State) also went yard for the Mariners with a sixth inning home run.
Grand Lake (4-7) goes on the road Wednesday taking on the first place Xenia Scouts. Southern Ohio (4-7) will host the Hamilton Joes.

The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate, founded in 1987, is a wood-bat league that is certified by the NCAA and is partially funded by Major League Baseball. The league currently consists of 14 active franchises in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana boasting several players that have earned service time in major league baseball.
