The Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League is proud to announce the induction of former Lima Locos head coach Rob Livchak into its Hall of Fame.

Livchak was the skipper of the Locos for 16 seasons racking up a franchise record 339 careers wins, two GLSCL Championships and one runner-up finish. He coached 95 players in Lima that were drafted by MLB organizations with eight eventually making it to play in the major leagues.

The eight future big leaguers under Livchak’s watch were Jared Fernandez, Kevin Brown, Brian Simmons, Jeff Kunkel, Burke Badenhop, Craig Stammen, Chad Stevens and Chris Rearick.

Livchak was an assistant coach at the University of Toledo when he came to the Locos in 1991. He would later relocate becoming the long-time head coach at Ohio State University at Lima.

The Locos won its first GLSCL Championship under Livchak’s guidance in 1993. Lima defeated the Central Ohio Wendys in a best-of-three game series.

Livchak stepped down as head coach in 1996 only to return as the skipper in 2000. In his second stint as head coach, which lasted until 2009, the Locos won three regular season titles.

Lima ended at the top of the standings in 2004 coupling that by winning a six-team tournament for the second GLSCL championship in franchise history.

In 2007, the Locos finished the season again at the top of the standings. Lima made it to the finals for the fourth time but were runners-up falling in the championship game to the Grand Lake Mariners.

Livchak’s tenure with the Locos wrapped up in 2009 with the team’s best record with him as the skipper. The Locos finished the season with a 28-8 ledger. That team’s .778 winning percentage still stands as the seventh best in the GLSCL’s 35-year history.

The Locos organization plan to celebrate Livchak’s Hall of Fame induction during a home game at Simmons Field during the 2024 season.
