LIMA, Ohio - The Lima Locos have won seven GLSCL Championships over the course of the franchise’s existence dating back to 1987. For the 2024 season, the Locos brought in a player that already has championship experience.

Locos infielder Lou Fujiwara was a key member of the Tokyo Kitasuna Little League World Series championship in 2017. Kitasuna took Williamsport by storm on its way to winning the title.

Fujiwara and his teammates practiced 12 hours per game in preparations honing its skills for a deep run. That hard work and dedication paid off accomplishing the highest team achievement for a group of 12-year old baseball players.

The Japanese team defeated Luftin Little League from Luftin, Texas taking the title back to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Fujiwara is currently playing collegiately at the University of Washington where he just completed his freshman season. He arrived in Ohio in June playing his first summer league season in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League for the Lima  Locos.

Locos head coach Chad Ehrnsberger played nearly a decade in profession baseball at many different levels. One of his former teammates was Bill Boyer when the two played together for the Joliet Jackhammers of the independent Northern League in 2006.

Boyer who was an assistant coach at Washington, helped place Fujiwara with the Locos. He knew his old friend would love Fujiwara’s slick fielding and professional approach at the plate.

Fujiwara looks forward to being a part of a championship team in Lima in front of its loyal and rabid fan base. The Locos are working toward defending its GLSCL title from last season which was the second in Ehrnsberger’s tenure with the franchise.
