Perhaps the showcase series of the early season had maroon division opponents, Miami and Trine, facing off to see if either or both, are up to the task of ending the IU Hoosiers dynasty. And we still don't know. Trine took game one in convincing fashion only to see Miami bounce back and win, via a shutout the next day. Time will tell if these two up and coming programs can make a run for the title. Speaking of the title, the Hoosiers absolutely dominated new comer and white division team IUNW.
The Boilermakers took out a year of pent up frustration after being under university suspension last season, with a convincing win over rival PUNW by a score of 10-3. The Boilers could be for real!. Butler is off to its best start in years despite a close loss to Denision (D2) last weekend. Rounding out the league was Schoolcrafts (white division) series against perennial power GVSU, where they were swept in a two game series last week.
A few more weeks of action should shed light on who are the contenders for league titles and regionals.
