12 & Under Opening Weekend
The 12 & Under Junior 495ers began the 2013 NAYRHL season with 3 sets of home games this past weekend. Saturday morning they faced the Marple Gladiator 12A team and won two very different games. In the opening game the 495ers built a quick 2-0 lead and watched it rapidly disappear as the Glads tied it at 2-2. More then half the game was then played with a tie score until BJ Space scored the game winner, as the 495ers won the game 3-2. In game two it was for different 495er players who each scored twice, as the 495ers won game two 8-0 behind a 12 save shutout for goalie Anthony Camarda who made his NAYRHL debut in the game.
Saturday afternoon the 12A 495ers took on a heafty opponent in the Marple Gladiators 12AA team. It was one of two out of division matchups for the team this season and while in both games the 495ers kept things tight in the first period, the AA Glads were just to much for the 495ers. Scores were 6-2 and 8-2.
Sunday afternoon the team was back at it again, this time welcoming in the York Jr Typhoon. The 495ers offense opened up on Sunday scoring 19 goals in two games and winning 9-4 and 10-6.
So after the first six games the 495ers are 4-2, but impressively 4-0 against teams with in their division. They are in action again on April 6th as they travel to ISCA to play the Grizzlies.
