(August 19, 2013) McKinney, Texas - The Warriors announced this morning another addition to their impressive coaching staff. Steve Dykstra, a veteran of over 200 NHL games with the Sabres, Oilers, Whalers and Penguins has joined the organization. Steve, a native of Edmonton was signed by Buffalo in December of 1982 and assigned to Rochester (AHL) where he quickly established himself as warrior in front of the net by battling opposing forwards in and around the crease.

In the 1985/1986 season Dykstra appeared in 64 games with the Sabres bringing size and toughness to the Buffalo lineup taking on many of the NHL's tough guys. Dykstra was traded to his hometown Edmonton Oilers midway through the 1987/1988 season where he won a Cup after the Oilers swept the Bruins that year. A year later Steve was in Pittburgh bolstering the toughness of the Pens and ensuring Mario was allowed to display his talents without worry of opposing players taking liberties.

After a short stint with Hartford, Dykstra played a season with San Diego in the IHL before injuries took their toll. He finished his career with the Fort Worth Fire, retiring in the 1997/1998 season.

Since his retirement Steve has been active as a youth coach in the area with the Jets, Stars and Allen Americans organization.
