Team GTHL Red shuts out Team ALLIANCE for the first win of the OHL Gold Cup
Kitchener, Ont. – After a scoreless first period, GTHL Red potted five goals to take the first win of the OHL Gold Cup over Team Alliance at Activa Sportsplex.
Wyatt Johnston scored the first goal of the tournament for GTHL Red on the power play, from Marc Boudreau and Deven Nagra 3:48 minutes into the second.
Just a minute later, Edward Moskowitz scored from Liam Arnsby to extend the lead to two for GTHL Red. Scoring the third of the game, Alex Christopoulos helped GTHL Red pull ahead on the power play from Liam Arnsby, Brandt Clarke. And Brandt Clarke rounded out the frame with a fourth goal from Alex Christopoulos.
Edward Moskowitz scored the lone goal of the third, his second of the game from Brandt Clarke.
Player of the Game for GTHL Red was Alex Christopoulos, and Brett Harrison was named Player of the Game for Team Alliance.
Shots were 38-17 in favour of GTHL Red.

About the OHL Gold Cup: The OHL Gold Cup is an annual showcase event featuring top under-16 talent in Ontario. As part of the Hockey Canada Program of Excellence (POE), players competing at the OHL Gold Cup have an opportunity to be evaluated for invitation to the national under-17 development camp, where Hockey Canada gathers the top talent from across the country to introduce players to the national team program and provide a foundation of development as they progress through the POE.
