The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) will put the focus on the players in its Ontario Junior Development League (OJDL) during the spring loop's annual showcase this spring.

All 10 teams will take part in the event, June 1 and 2 at Campus Ice Centre in Oshawa. 

College Hockey Inc., a new OJDL sponsor, will conduct a seminar for all OJDL players during the Showcase.

College Hockey Inc. works with NCAA Division I men's college hockey to raise the sport's profile and to encourage elite young players to pursue a college hockey career.

Other OJDL sponsors include ClifBar and Barn Burner Hockey.

“Over the last four years, we have seen our numbers grow with players moving from the OJDL to Jr. A hockey," said Chris Vanstone, the OJHL’s Director of Hockey Operations. "Last spring, 40 per cent of the players who played in the OJDL moved onto play Jr. A hockey the next season. “

From the 2018 OJDL teams, 84 players made OJHL teams or teams in other junior hockey leagues.

The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) started the successful pilot program in 2015 with four teams.

OJDL league play began May 5.

“The OJDL was developed to provide players with an introduction to the OJHL and Junior ‘A’ hockey, while at the same time provide our clubs with a player development and identification process for the following season,” said OJHL Commissioner Marty Savoy.  “The program allows for our teams to work with prospects in an environment where they can evaluate players earlier in their team selection process.”
