Wednesday marked the first day of the annual Southwestern Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament, held in New Orleans, LA at Barrow Stadium. Alcorn State came into the tourney as the #3 seed from the East side of the bracket, and round one pitted them against the 2 seed Grambling State Tigers.
The Braves upset the Tigers 8-7 in the tightly played contest. RSCBL Alumni Cedric Bell and DerVincent Hamilton combined for 3 hits, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored in the middle of the Brave lineup. Starting line-ups had Bell (DH) and Hamilton (LF) in the 3 and 6 holes respectively.
