RSCBL and Westchase Express square off to open summer season...

The 2016 RSCBL Season got started about 3 and 1/2 hours late Friday night, with Game 1 of a Friday night double header being delayed by weather and a 5 pm start around a 8:30 pm first pitch.  Game 1 saw the RSCBL Bowie Outfiters squad taking the field agains the Westchase Express.  A tightly contest game through the firs 3 innings, ended in a lopsided affair with the Express taking a convince 12-2 victory.  

RSCBL Bowie starter Blake Landry and Westchase Express starter Dalton Acosta battled to a 1-1 tie through the first 3 innings, but in the top of the 4th, after scattering two fly outs around 2 walks and an error, Landry gave up an RBI walk with bases loaded to break the 1-1 tie and end his night.  RSCBL Bowie relieve Stuart Tournillon entered and Express lead off man Jose Cabreja rudely greeted him with a 2 RBI double to blow open the game.  The Express would tack on two more run in the 4th and 6 more in the 5th inning to make a commanding lead.  RSCBL Bowie answer with 1 run in the bottom of the 5th when Caleb Nunez (GSU) lead off with a single and later scored on a Mark Traylor Jr (LSU-A) RBI Single.  That would end all scoring for the game and the Express would finish with a 12-2 victory.

Game 2 would see RSCB Wi Sports take the field versus the visiting Westchase Express.  Combination of Wi pitchers Josh Fountain, Brett Brooks (LSU-A), Devin Washington (GSU), and Dillen Miller (BRCC) would hold Express to only 1 run on 3 hits in the 7 inning contest; while the Wi offense managed to dot the scoreboard in each of the first 3 frames against hard throwing Express starter Jacob Gonzales.  Wi lead off man Jose Martinez (WOCC) began the first and second innings with lead off base hits, as well as reach in the 3rd on another; and the 3 hole hitter Anthony Valdes (SU) would finish the night 2-2 with 4 RBI's to pace a potent Wi offense that put up 8 runs and took control of the game, never to relenquish the lead.

In the 7th inning, Express starter pitcher would assist his own cause by leading off the inning with a double and later coming around to score the Express long run in a 8-1 final.

Games between Westchase and RSCBL Double Play and RSCBL JaniKing scheduled for Saturday were cancelled due to weather conditions.  The RSCBL regular season begin Monday night June 6th with Jani-King and Double Play squaring off at 6:30 pm at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton rouge.  Follow the GameLIVE at www.rscbl.com scoreboard or come take in summer ball at the park.  $5 adult admission, kids under 10 get in free.
