SABRE DOGS THUMP TRAPPERS
It was a successful road trip for the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs as they picked up a 18-1 victory in a single away game against the Pierre Trappers.
The Sabre Dogs jumped on Pierre in the top of the first inning when Mason Dinesen stole home. Souris Valley led 4-1 heading to the seventh inning.
The Souris Valley offense exploded for nine runs in the top of the seventh inning, with four runners walked home by Pierre pitching. Dinesen opened up the Sabre Dogs lead with a one- out grand slam.
Two innings later, Alex Hay put the exclamation point on what was a busy day for the Souris Valley offense when he hit his second grand slam of the night over the right field wall.
Ryan Miller pitched seven innings as the starter for Souris Valley, allowing 7 hits and 1 earned run. Alec Ivanoff secured the Sabre Dogs win by pitching a shutout over the final two innings.
Souris Valley returns to Corbett Field Wednesday to face the Hub City Hot Shots and kick off an eight-game home stand.
