The Piedmont Pride take out the Lake Norman Copperheads with help from Redmond, 6-1
The Piedmont Pride (25-6) beat the Lake Norman Copperheads (9-20) 6-1 in seven innings on Saturday at Hough High School behind Chandler Redmond, who went 2-2.
He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.The Lake Norman Copperheads had no answer for Connor Pate, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Lake Norman Copperheads managed just two hits off of the the Piedmont Pride's pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.
Tyler Baker was solid at the plate for the Lake Norman Copperheads. Baker went 2-3 and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
John Todd pitched lights out for the Lake Norman Copperheads. Todd held the Piedmont Pride hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Adam Hornstra ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fifth loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked five and struck out four.
