The Piedmont Pride outdone by Suttles and the Lake Norman Copperheads, 3-1
Pierce Suttles drove in three runs, helping the Lake Norman Copperheads (14-25) to a 3-1 victory over the Piedmont Pride (32-8) on Friday at Winthrop University.
He homered in the third inning.Eric Whitecavage struck out seven hitters en route to the the Lake Norman Copperheads win. Whitecavage allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk over seven innings.
The Lake Norman Copperheads couldn't get anything going as long as Jake Moebius was pitching. Moebius held the Lake Norman Copperheads hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.
Andrew Corbitt (1-1) took the loss for the Piedmont Pride. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
