Varsity Wins Home Opener
The Ghosts have a lot to be proud of after last night's home opener against Plymouth Whitemarsh. This season they are balancing the excitement a new head coach, Ken Brzozowski, with the blow of losing some highly skilled players.
The team came out strong and kept the first period scoreless until 33 seconds before the buzzer despite the fact that they needed to kill five penalties. To open up the second Alternate Captain, Perry Carpenter, nipped on a breakaway and a few minutes later Captain Luke DeCristofano scored with a clapper from the blue line. PW was held scoreless in the second.
The third period was the nail biter with two goals tallied by each team, the last two at :47 and :10. AIH goals were scored by one of our new players, Gavin O'Donnell and a breakaway by Captain, Nikolai Portner. The Ghosts came away with the 4-3 win with Junior goalie, Mason Large, stopping 29 shots.
Next week the boys play Neshaminy High School in a non-league game They are in the division above us, so the team is anxious to see how they match up.
