Don't let Hall Puck get hot!

The Pirates traveled to the Revolution Ice Centre on Sunday to face off against the Scranton Royals. Despite issues with ice quality, a slow start, and penalty trouble, the Pirates were able to find their stride halfway through the first. Captain Jimmy Griffin, while shorthanded, fired one past the Scranton netminder to give his team the lead. The Royals would answer just three minutes later, tying the game, but junior John Anselmo was having none of that. On the powerplay, Anselmo won a battle in front of the net and buried home a rebound to regain the lead. This goal would go on to be the game-winning goal and Anselmo's first of many that night.

Throughout the second period, the Pirates demonstrated their offensive prowess, tallying four more goals and extending the lead to 6-1. Anselmo and the Pirates took advantage of yet another powerplay opportunity, and the junior was able to find the puck through traffic and tuck it home. Anselmo added an even-strength marker late in the period for the hat trick and to make the Pirates' lead five goals. Sophomore Mike Volpi and junior Cam Adamec also found the back of the net during the period.

Just when you thought the hat trick was enough, Anselmo scored an unassisted goal early in the third for a whopping four-goal game, the most in any game in his collegiate career. "Johnny A was doing all the little things right going into this game," said captain Cam Toussaint of his teammate. "Blocking shots in key moments, killing penalties, and creating opportunities for other guys. Really special to see him break out on the scoresheet like that and add another tool to his game." John scored four of the Pirates' seven goals in the 7-1 win over Scranton. Freshman goaltender John Fox stood tall and made 35 saves in the win.

Next weekend, the Pirates face their toughest test of the season in the defending champ UPenn at the Class of 1923 Arena in Philadelphia. The Pirates will host Rutgers the next day.
