Your Philadelphia Flyers Junior Hockey team guaranteed themselves a spot in the USPHL Playoffs with a 6-5 victory over the Okanagan European Eagles.

The win was spurred by a balanced Flyers scoring attack that saw 6 different players tally a goal with 11 skaters grabbing a point.

Opening the scoring for the Flyers just two minutes into today’s contest was forward Brendan Phillipon.  Phillipon’s second score of the season, was assisted by Tyler Wyatt and Mateo Capriotti.  After a Sam Antonisch score knotted the game up a one goal a piece, Flyers forward Devin Brink answered back with a score of his own.

The game would continue to see-saw back and forth through the first and second periods of play as defenseman Max Luukko and Richie Brusco both got involved in the offensive attack adding a goal each, extending the Flyers’ total to four.

With the contest tied at four heading into the third period of play, it was a familiar face that staked the Flyers to their fourth and final lead.  Team-leading point getter and Flyers captain Ron Greco was found open by Aaron Huffnagle and Richie Brusco for his 14th score and 58th point of the year.

The Greco power play goal would not be his team’s last as Vladislav Sorokin drove home the sixth and decisive Flyers score.  The game-winner for Sorokin was assisted by forward Dylan Healey and Devin Brink who had 3 and 2 points respectively in the contest.

Earning the win between the pipes for the Flyers was Connecticut native Matt Beck.  Beck now has four wins in the 2015-2016 campaign with 3.26 goals against average.

Today’s victory, the Flyers 20th, clinches the squad at least a spot as the sixth seed in the USPHL Playoffs.  The team will be back on the ice tomorrow as the continue their push towards the playoffs Sunday morning against the Portland Junior Pirates.  The team will need a handful of wins and a few PAL Junior Islanders losses down the stretch to move their way into the fifth spot come playoff time.

After Sunday’s matchup with the Pirates, your Flyers will wrap up the season with two more matchups with these Okanagan European Eagles, before heading back home for a two game weekend series with the Jersey Hitmen, Saturday, February 20th and Sunday, February 21st.
