Sodbusters’ Scully Hurls an Eight-Inning Gem; Whiskey Jacks Fall 15-0

HASTINGS, Neb. – Hastings Sodbusters pitcher Treyton Scully (1-0, 3.00 ERA) pitched an eight-inning two-hit ballgame Sunday, defeating the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks 15-0. Scully struck out two batters during his eight innings of work. This is Scully’s first win of the season.

 

Sodbusters shortstop Cole Dawson hit his first triple and double in his 3-for-6 performance Sunday. Dawson improved his average to .400. Catcher Justin McGuigan went 3-for-4 with a trio of RBIs. Designated hitter Jacob Shaw went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk. Right fielder Carson Cahoy went 1-for-5 with two RBIs and drew a walk. First baseman Trevor Mattson, third baseman Ian Riley, and second baseman Tyler Monroe all went 1-for-3, driving in one RBI a piece. Monroe hit his second double of the year.

 

Whiskey Jacks pitcher Jack Moffitt (0-1, 12.27 ERA) recorded the loss, going three innings on two hits, three runs (one earned), and striking out four batters. Cameron Daigle (0-0, 12.15 ERA) pitched two innings on six hits, five runs (all earned), and striking out three batters. Daigle has also been used a utility player on the offensive side for the Whiskey Jacks. Griffin Shearon (0-1, 11.25 ERA) gave up five runs (all earned) in an inning, walking three, and striking out one batter.

 

Shortstop Garrett Olson and right fielder Houston Fogelstrom both collected a hit for the Whiskey Jacks. Olson went 1-for-3 and Fogelstrom went 1-for-4. 

 

The Whiskey Jacks (6-5) start a three-game homestand against the Spearfish Sasquatch (7-3) Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Kraft Field.
