Whiskey Jacks Split Series with Big Sticks

DICKINSON, N.D. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks defeated the Badlands Big Sticks 3-1 Tuesday, avenging Monday’s 9-4 loss. Whiskey Jacks first baseman Nolan Lingley continued his hot stretch at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a double. Lingley extended his hitting streak to four games. Third baseman Jaxon Sorenson, right fielder Nolan Drill, and center fielder Houston Fogelstrom all collected one RBI a piece. Catcher Rhett Stein went 3-for-4, his eighth multi-hit game of the season. 

 

Big Sticks center fielder Joe Osborn snapped his 9-game hitting streak, going 0-for-3 in Tuesday’s game. Left fielder Matt Olive went 2-for-4. Olive was the only player in the Big Sticks’ lineup to record more than one hit. Catcher Ryan Stafford, third baseman Travis Ray Jr., and first baseman Adam Senden all recorded a hit. Senden recorded his 11th RBI and has recorded at least one RBI in three consecutive games.

 

Whiskey Jacks pitcher Jake Anderson (2-5, 5.84 ERA) recorded his first win since June 4 versus the Hastings Sodbusters, going six innings on five hits, allowing one run (earned), walking four batters, and striking out three. Pitcher Matthew Dalquist (2-1, 5.94 ERA) collected his first save of the year, pitching three scoreless innings and striking out five batters. Big Sticks pitcher Justin Butz (0-1, 5.78 ERA) collected his first loss of the season, going 4.2 innings on five hits, allowing three runs (all earned), walking three batters, and striking out four. Carson Lundmark (0-0, 1.68 ERA) and Daniel Rivera (0-1, 4.09 ERA) combined for 4.1 shutout innings.

 

The Whiskey Jacks (18-23) will travel to Pierre, S.D. to begin a four-game home and home series with the Pierre Trappers (11-30) Wednesday. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. (CDT) at Hyde Stadium.
