Trappers Defeat Whiskey Jacks 7-3
GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Pierre Trappers defeated the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks 7-3 Sunday, as the Trappers recorded four doubles in Sunday’s ballgame. Trappers shortstop Garret Hill went 3-for-4, recording his third double of the season. Hill also drove in his 5th and 6th RBI of the season. Second baseman Tyler Skelton went 2-for-4 with his 9th double and 10th and 11th RBI of the season. Third baseman Brendon Perez went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Designated hitter Kaiden Cardoso, who went 3-for-5, stole his 8th base of the season Sunday. Shortstop Ethan Sitzman and first baseman Jaxon Sorenson drove in their 15th and 24th RBI, respectively.
Whiskey Jacks pitcher Jake Anderson (2-6, 6.36 ERA) collected the loss, giving up four runs (all earned) in three innings of work. Anderson also allowed six hits. Matthew Dalquist (2-1, 5.30 ERA), Blake Kaplan (1-1, 8.66 ERA), and Julio Acosta (0-0, 0.00 ERA) combined for six innings in relief. Acosta made his debut from Dawson Community College (MT) Sunday.
Trappers pitcher Brandt Sundeen (1-2, 10.92 ERA) recorded the win, going seven innings strong on three runs (one earned), walking a season-high five batters, and striking out nine batters. Adrian Lopez (1-3, 6.46 ERA) and Tyler Luban (3-0, 2.61 ERA) both pitched two hitless and scoreless innings in relief.
The Whiskey Jacks (20-26) will begin a two-day league-wide All-Star Break in Casper, Wyo., followed by an off day on Wednesday. The next home game is on Thursday, July 22nd versus the Badlands Big Sticks (25-21).
